Wiper Blades

Any driver will know that your windscreen wiper blades are arguably one of the most important safety features on your vehicle.

Your wiper blades serve to wipe away any liquid, ice and dirt that might be obstructing your view from your car windscreen quickly and smoothly, providing you with a clear view of the road ahead. If your vision of the road is poor then there is a greater risk that you will be involved in a road accident.

Therefore, it is vitally important to ensure that your wiper blades are in good working order so that they can continue to give you good, clear visibility and keep you safe when you drive your car in rain, sleet or snow. Your vehicle could fail its MOT if your windscreen wipers are found to be defective.

Windscreen wipers are subject to natural wear and tear and environmental conditions and age will affect their condition. To check the state of your wiper blades, look for wear on the edge of the blade and check the rubber for small cuts or cracks. If in instances of bad weather, such as heavy rain or snow, you find that your vision is not at its optimum because it is obscured by spray and smears, or if your windscreen wipers screech or make a lot of noise when in use, then it could be time to replace your wiper blades.

For maximum driving safety, it is recommended that you replace your wiper blades regularly (at least once a year), so if you cannot remember when the last time you changed your windscreen wiper blades was, then it is most likely time to invest in a replacement set.

It is always best to replace a complete wiper blade rather than just the rubber part, and more economical in the long run too.
